DONAUWELLEN TORTE

This is the "Waves of the Danube" cake, a very traditional German recipe combining vanilla and chocolate batters and cherries. I follow Dr. Oekter recipe, but I ommit the vanilla pudding from the original recipe because I like my cakes for breakfast with a wonderful cup of coffee, thank you, instead of a concoction that is more a desert than a cake. And make my own chocolate icing. Oh, and I use Maraschino cherries for extra flavour!!

Esse bolo super tradicional alemão é chamado de " bolo ondas do Danúbio" e é um bolo de massa branca e de chocolate com cerejas. Eu uso a receita da Dr. Oekter (está em alemão, mas dá para traduzir usando o tradutor da barra de ferramentas do Google). Eu só não coloco o pudim de baunilha porque aí fica mais uma sobremesa do que um bolo, e eu gosto é de bolo no café da manhã com uma xícara de café com leite! E eu uso cerejas ao marasquino para um gostinho a mais. E eu faço a "minha" cobertura de chocolate, a receita que faço no olho!     

When the cake bakes, the cherries sink in the batter, forming the so called waves, and leave these little holes in the cake tha end up filled with delicious chocolate icing.  

As cerejas afundam quando o bolo assa formando as "ondas"  e deixando esses buraquinhos que vão ficar cheinhos de cobertura!!

My icing turns out like this, a very fine hardened crust and gooey chocolate underneath! By the way, does this kind of icing have a name or a literature, for that matter?

Minha cobertura "de olho" fica assim, uma casquinha fininha dura e chocolate escorrendo por baixo. Modéstia à parte, uma delícia! Nem sei se essa cobertura tem nome ou se existe nos livros de culinária...

I love the hand printed pieces above, they remind my of the Japanese sewing books aesthetics...

Adoro as peças pintadas à mão acima. Elas me lembram da estética japonesa, adoro! 

Ok, I would never choose this print for the dress below, but I really like the pattern and the contrasting trim (how about some luxurious silk trimmed with beads or crystals- so 70´s!)    

Eu jamais usaria essa estampa abaixo, mas adorei o molde! Imagine uma seda super luxuosa com pedrarias! 

 

 

 

 Well, my "fashion" fantasy is spending all my leisure time in maxi dresses and skirts, so...

HUIS CLOS - inverno 2013

Another brand I am completely in love with : HUIS CLOS! I adored the prints and textures and the amazing electric pink, just loved it! And yes, people from the northen hemisphere, that´s pretty much as much coverage as we need in our "winter" ;)
